WHAT IS THE CRICUT EASY PRESS MINI?

You are familiar with the Cricut EasyPress 2, right? This family of craft heat press tools with perfect regulated temperature settings have been game-changers for iron on projects. It comes in three sizes of 6 x 7 inch, 9 x 9 inch, and 10 x 12 inch. (My full unboxing and first look at the EasyPress can be found here)

Now Cricut has introduced the Cricut EasyPress Mini! It’s the same power in your hand as the Cricut EasyPress but sized to conquer all impossibly small tasks. Your mind is about to explode. It’s okay, we’ll pick up the pieces and get to a craft project in a minute.

HOW LARGE IS THE CRICUT EASYPRESS MINI?

Shaped similar to an iron, the platen is approximately 2 x 3.5”.

DOES THE CRICUT EASYPRESS MINI REALLY WORK?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve tried using the tip of a household iron for tiny heat press projects before. And I can tell you that it doesn’t work. My iron does not hold a consistent temperature at the tip that is sufficient to adhere vinyl. In my head, where craft-fails happen on the regular, a standard household iron can work. In the real world, where we all have to live, the EasyPress Mini works tiny miracles. The iron does not work.

WHAT CAN I HEAT PRESS WITH THE CRICUT EASYPRESS MINI?

So many materials are a possibility. Here are a few ideas:

  • Shoes

  • Hats

  • Stuffed animals

  • Sleeves, Pockets, Cuffs

  • Hair bows + ribbons

  • Small bags + pouches

  • Onesies + doll clothes

  • Journals

  • Luggage tags

  • Mugs, plates and bowls

  • Appliqué patches

  • Spaces near seams, hems and buttons

  • Binding + paper piecing

  • Pet collars

  • Keychains + small leather goods

HOW DOES THE EASYPRESS MINI WORK?

Oh wow, it’s so easy. There is one button on the Cricut EasyPress Mini for temperature regulation. The EasyPress Mini also comes with an insulated safety base. To turn it on, click one, two or three times to the temperature setting you need. After 13 minutes of inactivity, the unit will shut off.

Click twice for a medium setting. Once the unit is to temperature, the light will turn from orange to green.

WHAT ARE THE APPROPRIATE TEMPERATURE SETTINGS FOR EASYPRESS MINI?

What temperature setting do you use for the Cricut EasyPress Mini? So simple. Cricut has an online heat guide for all your temperature settings. But I’ve created this printable guide for you to download and save.

Low — for lightweight, delicate, synthetic, or heat-sensitive fabrics; also great for more delicate heat-transfer vinyl, such as Foil Iron-On

Medium — for most fabrics and heat-transfer vinyl

High — for Infusible Ink projects and blanks

STEP THREE

Carefully press the design onto your material. Using the right heat and constant motion will ensure a good bond.
